ABSTRACT

This chapter serves as a case study of employing heroism education to mediate the affects of trauma for vulnerable populations in Flint, Michigan, an American city stricken by economic collapse and a recent municipal disaster. This subjective testimony highlights a potential avenue of progress for wellbeing education and serves as a reminder that, though the lessons illustrated here are based in fact and municipal disaster. Academics, practitioners, and laypeople are encouraged to work collaboratively, uniting theory and lived experience in order to create robust and enduring applications to enhance wellbeing.
