ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the importance of cultural humility within forensic social work. Forensic social workers come into contact with individuals with diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Forensic social workers must be able to investigate and articulate the client’s experience and strengths, which exist as a result of the client’s complex cultural identity and perspective. Cultural humility will be defined in this chapter and expanded upon. In addition, this chapter will highlight examples of special populations found within the criminal justice system.
