The main goals of this chapter are:
1 To introduce you to the major characteristics of the version of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) known as ‘the Cardiff Model’ (CM) and
2 to show how it relates ‘meaning’ to ‘form’ – in two meanings of ‘meaning’ (roughly ‘sense’ and ‘reference’), so in two major stages.
