ABSTRACT

Dementia is a social issue that affects millions of people in the United States and imposes emotional, physical, and financial burdens on all involved. This article posits that museum programs designed for audiences affected by dementia can offer a low-cost and effective way of relieving some of the challenges faced by those suffering from dementia, their caretakers, friends, and families. An overview of current programs is followed by some programming possibilities currently found in non-museum fields.
