ABSTRACT

The journal Museums & Social Issues has taken on a variety of unexpected but important themes over recent years ranging from civic dialogue and wellness to parental involvement and incarceration. Now Kris Morrissey, its editor, along with Elee Wood, created this volume that includes graduate student writing which by inference brings into the forefront the interests of our younger staff and scholars and the need for graduate curriculum reform or at least increased emphasis on the issues of social concern. I am grateful to be asked to participate in this volume as an occasional visiting lecturer deeply devoted to making museums more responsive to the issues of the day.
