ABSTRACT

In the past the so-called Ordos Culture of Inner Mongolia was considered to be the type Middle Palaeolithic assemblage for North China, but the discovery of a perforated ornament at Shuidonggou in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, within the Ordos sphere of distribution, resulted in the reinterpretation of the Ordos Culture as Late Palaeolithic (Qiu and Li 1978).
