ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with companies interested in preserving their cultural heritage. There are researchers who are motivated by working in economic history, industrial history and industrial heritage who are willing to save their archives, to organize and to awaken the interest of owners of companies to protect them. The protection and conservation of industrial records is relatively recent in the world of archives. The records generated by industrial activity are essential to understand no own history and technological changes, but also the history of economic, tech social, trade union, political and even cultural development of the region. Industrial archives should be the cornerstone and the historical and academic foundation for re-use projects for industrial sites. In the case of the industrial heritage, the written information contained in archives, machinery and tool catalogues, periodicals and photographs of that time is of great help in carrying out comprehensive projects for rescue, restoration and re-use.
