ABSTRACT

In Part 4, we shift attention to questions of boundaries across scale, moving from individual bodies to wider geopolitical interaction and on to the earth system. The papers in this section, by Elizabeth Cartwright, Jessica Smith Rolston, Derek Newberry, and Scott Vandehey, engage the relationships and points of conflict across these domains. They ask how thinking about scale might be a useful tool for responding to some aspects of energy development and transition, while addressing questions about health and illness, as well as sustainability and renewable energy transitions, at the individual, community and national scales.
