ABSTRACT

From 2008 to 2009, Robert Albro was Chair of the Commission on the Engagement of Anthropology with the US Security and Intelligence Communities (CEAUSSIC). He was recently a member of the National Research Council's (NRC) Committee on Unifying Social Frameworks, and serves on the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Human Rights Coalition Steering Committee. The NRC is part of the National Academies, which are nonprofit and independent from the US government, in contrast, say, to the Congressional Research Service. As part of the National Academies, the NRC's mission is to advise the nation regarding questions of science, technology, and health policy. In practice, this means particular federal agencies, including military, security, and intelligence agencies.
