ABSTRACT

A new linkage between the knowledge management and entrepreneurship literature has occurred with the emergence of the knowledge spillover theory of entrepreneurship (Ghio et al., 2015). This is due to knowledge being one of the main drivers of a regions’ competitive advantage when it is combined with entrepreneurship (Caiazza et al., 2015). The term knowledge spillover gained ascendancy with the publication of David Audretsch’s seminal book ‘Innovation and Industry Evolution’, which focused on the role of entrepreneurial and innovative firms in creating wealth-generating activities.
