Toward a Social Psychology of Social Movements

Forty-five years ago the thought of trying to fashion a viable social psychology of social movements would have seemed laughable. Why, because the dominant perspectives on social movements and collective action were already overwhelmingly psychological and social psychological in their focus and proposed causal dynamics. This was true at both the micro and macro levels of analysis.
