ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the demographics of right-wing domestic terrorist groups—in particular, white nationalists and militia members—comparing them to previous studies done by Borgeson and Valeri (2006) on white supremacist organizations. Data comparison spans from 2006 to 2016. Demographics measured in this study were socioeconomics, age, gender, geography, and social influences for joining. The chapter highlights changes in the makeup of the typical hate group member and discusses why these changes took place.
