ABSTRACT

At the outset, it should be stated how much we welcome the attention to men who are subject to repeated and enduring sexual violence. This volume combines, in surprising and often contradictory ways, the familiar and the new. So, although the contributions deal with a problematique that has been relatively unexplored in the field of International Relations (IR) broadly conceived, they are also evocative and reminiscent of a familiar emotional and intellectual terrain – an asymmetrical, hierarchical, and deeply gendered world in which injustice is rife and oppression almost banal.
