ABSTRACT

The intention of the group intervention is to allow group members to recognize where they invest their time, energy, care, and resources, and how to notice when they no longer have anything left to give, or when they are out of emotional energy. The activity is also designed to increase the client's self-awareness and capacity to recognize and manage strong emotional experiences, often deemed uncomfortable. Strong emotional experiences significantly influence the behaviors and interactions with others. This activity helps to make oneself aware of the toll of emotional experiences by providing members with "emotional energy crystals". The intention of this intervention is to provide group members with more insight into their day-to-day lives by increasing self-awareness and enhancing their own ability to recognize their own value. The facilitator should distribute one bag of "emotional energy crystals" to each group member. Each individual possesses a finite amount of energy to give each day, represented by the crystals in the bag.
