ABSTRACT

Financialisation is therefore a shift in the social structure as financial capital becomes predominant, and many works have shed light both on the process giving birth to this new balance of power and on its consequences for the economy. As could be expected, the financialisation of the economy should go hand in hand with a financialisation of business elite careers, that is, with a rise of financial roles in professional trajectories. In other words, contrary to the first hypothesis, financialisation has operated without any major increase in the number of financial positions in the careers of business school graduates. On the other hand, roles in commodified finance have become increasingly significant and seem to have become established as a new norm for reaching dominant positions in the business field. This trend within finance could indicate a shift in the transformation of financial corporate control in France.
