ABSTRACT

Physical anthropology is the science that studies the physical attributes of human groups and the laws that govern the formation and development of these attributes. Cultural and physical anthropology make up the two major aspects of the field of anthropology. The study of anthropology has by now, in some scientifically and technically advanced countries of the world, a history of almost a hundred years. The prohibition of marriage between close blood-relatives is an important legal restriction in our country. The basis for making such a stipulation comes directly from the research results in the field of physical anthropology and related sciences. Intermarriage among close blood relatives can cause many hereditary genetic diseases among subsequent generations. The necessity of prohibiting the marriage of close blood relatives is a scientific conclusion resulting from the integrated development of several modern sciences, including genetics, eugenics, and physical anthropology.
