ABSTRACT
From 1979 to 1984, Wang Tuo was imprisoned by the KMT government in the wake of the Gaoxiong incident, which occurred just as he was attempting to run for office in a local election. During his prison term, he wrote two novels, including Taibei, Taibei (1981). In the local elections of 1989, Wang ran for office again, aspiring to become mayor of Jilong.
