ABSTRACT

Alfred Eichner conceptualized his approach to economic modeling as a systems approach in which the economy is "analyzed in terms of (1) its structure, and (2) its dynamic behavior" (Eichner, 1991, p. 18). Chief among the inputs required by the production sector, in his view, is what he described as the "output of the parallel anthropogenic system" (1991, p. 867)—human resources with the skills and competencies required to staff and operate the production system's facilities. While the anthropogenic system is the source of labor required by the production system, at the same time, it is dependent upon the production system for employment opportunities (1991, pp. 31-34; 867-904).
