ABSTRACT

Christianity is a written religion, which introduced Rus' to a highly developed mythology, to the history of the European and Near Eastern countries. Christianity is accepted at the moment when Valdimir has united Rus'. The Tatar-Mongols who conquered Rus were polytheists, and polytheism is strong in that it recognizes new gods. Istvan introduced the western form of Christianity, uniting Hungary by force, as Karl the Great before him had baptised the Saxons by force of arms. Sergii Radonezhskii was the conduit of certain ideas and traditions, connecting the unity of Rus' with the church. The church subordinated to the state wasted its spiritual freedom, its freedom of conscience. The sector of freedom grows along all lines, while the sector of the church’s freedom to the degree that the church renounces its dependence on the government. The Kiev Cave Monastery was outside of town and Trinity-Sergius, the most important center of Russian book production and the mother of many Russian monasteries.
