ABSTRACT

Land was a major topic in economics before this century, but it has been largely neglected since the neoclassic economic theories came to the fore. The reasons for this are many, and will not be reviewed here. In reality, land issues have always been focuses of attention in developing countries and in Asia, which contains many well-developed economies too. The recent Asian financial storms, which were closely related to the real estate bubbles, should remind people of the cost of neglecting land in our knowledge.
