ABSTRACT

A new century is less than three years away. When one surveys the promises and challenges of the twenty-first century, both seem awesome. The acceleration of the scientific-technological revolution shows no signs of abating, and through it, the lives of most individuals will be dramatically altered. Material gains for the majority of the world’s population will continue to advance. The Internet and similar developments will render available information massive. All borders will be porous; all individuals reachable.
