ABSTRACT

Many of the international volunteers at events are short-term volunteers because the event lasts only one or two days. Usually these events are organized during the weekend, so it is easier for people to be able to volunteer. Event volunteerism is a typical ad hoc form of participation, where the event is the central point. The transition model includes all stages volunteers go through in their involvement with the organization and the processes from one stage to the other. Volunteering is not a fixed concept; it changes during the period of volunteering. People may start to volunteer for certain reasons and continue for others. At the sporting events most of the training happens on the job. Big events such as World Championships require the organizers to arrange training for the volunteers. Most participants volunteered to help their sport club with their expenses.
