ABSTRACT

A student of color struggles to navigate social experiences on a predominantly white campus. As she experiences micro-aggressions on campus, she turns to her sorority sisters for understanding and support. It was a beautiful fall day on the campus of Ellington University, and Aaliyah was enjoying the short walk along the edge of the quad as she headed toward her late afternoon class. It had been a good start to the school year, and with three weeks of the semester under her belt, she was glad that things were settling into a normal routine. The beginning of the school year had been rather hectic. Charlotte Preston is the Director of the Office for Student Leadership and Greek Affairs. Charlotte has been at Ellington for a little over a year and has a great deal of experience in working with majority white fraternities and sororities through her positions at two other small colleges.
