ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the adoption of a game-based methodological triangulation aimed at deepening the relation between religion and myth. Enrico Gandolfi has conducted an inquiry about the topic by alternating questionnaires, play sessions, focus groups and custom-made mods. The case study involved 42 subjects who played the Fallout 3 and Divinity: Original Sin video games for a period of four months. The objective of the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods staged was to stimulate reflection about and comprehension of the theme in the sample recruited. The results show the effectiveness of the intervention and suggest further developments for enriching this empirical approach in game studies and related disciplines.
