ABSTRACT

The Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (YLS/CMI) is an actuarial instrument designed to assist the professional in evaluating risk for violent and nonviolent antisocial behavior in youth. It also assists in identifying factors placing the youth at risk and therefore may function as a case planning and management tool. The instrument is widely used in juvenile justice, adolescent mental health, and school settings. The measure is appropriate for use by a wide range of professionals, including psychologists, social workers, probation officers, and child care workers. Analyses of reliability, construct validity, and predictive validity have been based on a wide range of samples including males and females and a variety of ethnic, cultural, and national groups.
