ABSTRACT

Writing is a major learning activity at tertiary level. Universities and other tertiary level education providers have long recognised the value of providing some form of academic writing support to their undergraduate and postgraduate students. Generally such writing support aims to help students with their university writing needs, often by focusing directly on the kinds of writing needed for academic studies. Support may be in the form of the provision of academic writing courses, although other forms of support, such as student self-access, online support sites and writing centres, are also common.
