Surrounded from childhood by magnificent works of art of many different periods, Mrs. A. Hamilton Rice 1 devoted herself single-mindedly to one, the French dix-huitième. Her houses in New York, Newport and Paris were alike filled with its products. Her choicest treasures, however, were assembled and combined with unerring taste in her great New York drawing room, with its rich Louis XVI 2 panelling.
