ABSTRACT

People drawn to ‘interfaith dialogue’ or faith/non-faith dialogue often see themselves as part of a ‘coalition of the reasonable’. They believe that although there may be fanatics on all sides of the debate, there is a quiet majority (or at least large minority) who are not dogmatic and do not see the worldview they endorse as having a monopoly on truth and wisdom. They hope that if we can bring other like-minded people together, they can counter the illusion that our beliefs about religion inevitably divide us.
