ABSTRACT

Recent economic research assessing sustainable development has been compiled, and several research projects, including the Inclusive Wealth Report and the World Bank’s report on the changing wealth of nations, provide sustainability indicators (see previous chapter). Recent indicators based on Pearce and Atkinson’s capital approach attempt to cover all capital sources that contribute to human well-being. However, due to the availability of data and the difficulty of economic valuation, not all capital sources are included in the indicators.
