ABSTRACT

The final chapter of this section attempts to pull together a general overview of good community development practice. In doing so, we explore five key elements that underpin effective practice. These elements are:

The art of community development practice is to work with many dimensions at one time

The worker needs to remain constant to the values of CD

The worker needs to analyse the community through applying social theories

From this analysis a range of practice models can be selected and applied

What is essential is that the worker is flexible and creative in making these choices

Community development requires the worker to adopt a multifaceted approach to understanding and working in the community.
