ABSTRACT

This case study looks at racism in Scotland. Specifically, the study explores anti-racist education work undertaken in schools, youth groups and workplace. It uses football and football role models to focus the debate about race and racism. The study raises the question about the effectiveness of large-scale educational campaigns compared to more intensive and sustained small group work. In doing so it also raises questions around culture, power and embedded privilege.

The main themes covered in the study are:

Anti-racist work

Campaigning
