ABSTRACT

An individual's stature is a readily observable and frequently measured biological trait. Along with age, sex, ancestry, and weight, stature is one of the first things we notice about a person and is included in many antemortem medical, civilian, and military records. Among other useful information, stature estimations from skeletal remains or body parts assists authorities' efforts to identify remains of unknown individuals. Along with the other biological parameters just mentioned, stature of the deceased is one of the biological assessments that may prove critical in establishing the possible identity of remains.
