ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the case studies describes more about the selection process, some caveats, as well as questions that can be used in discussions and/or analysis of the case studies presented here. The case studies were selected based on the geographical representation, disciplines, context, and assessments utilised. While they are identified by university, these case studies are often an example of a microcosm within the university and should not be indicative of institutional-wide assessment or common practice throughout the institution. It is necessary to note that these cases are not meant to represent best practice in intercultural competence development and assessment; rather, they are illustrative of current practice, and as such, are works in progress. This is highlighted by the thoughtful conclusions to each of the case studies of 'Lessons Learned' and then 'Ways to Improve', which models reflexivity on the process itself.
