ABSTRACT. The physiological and biochemical effects of alcoholism in men can lead to decreased levels of testosterone and increased levels of estrogens. This alteration in the testosteroneestrogen ratio can lead to feminization and sexual dysfunction. Research on the effects of alcoholism in women is less definitive; but nonetheless, points to alterations in sexual functioning as well.
