ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses four case studies that match the life histories to the ideas about happiness and principles of financial planning. It also explains six steps of financial planning. Living standards are higher than in the past and people are more likely to aspire to travel and experiences. To create a balanced life, their vision should include seven key areas: work and career, finances, recreation and free time, health and fitness, relationships, personal goals, and contribution to the larger community. True wealth is different from wealth because financial abundance is enjoyed without neglecting other important areas in people's life: relationships, communities or personal searches for meaning. True wealth encompasses all things that money does not. To achieve happiness, Brower categorises assets in four areas: Core Assets; Experience Assets; Contribution Assets; Financial Assets. True wealth comprises all of these assets and there should not be a domination of one over another.
