ABSTRACT

Educators and students, particularly linguistically and culturally diverse students, are facing a challenging era. Inequities are pervasive and happening nearly everywhere. For example, in schools, various forms of inequitiesoften language-, race-, class-, and gender-based-often occur and shape student-student and teacher-student interactions and unequal power relations. These structural inequities often lead to resource and opportunity gaps between affluent and nonaffluent students. These gaps, in turn, influence the learning and academic outcomes of students and their future professional lives.
