ABSTRACT
As already mentioned in the previous chapter, both material and immaterial objects can be persistent. In this chapter we shall look at material stocks 1 . Matter is an object of inquiry addressed by science and technology. The temporal development of material stocks can be studies scientifically and statistics can be collated regarding the way they change. In this chapter, then, we seek to formulate a definition of material stocks that accords with a mathematical and scientific approach.
