ABSTRACT
Caribbean coral reefs are among the most endangered in the world. In this chapter the authors review the status of coral reef ecology and tourism in 6 out of 22 Caribbean Coastal Marine Productivity Program (CARICOMP) members: Belize, the Cayman Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados. The chapter considers the impact of coral reef tourism on coral reef sustainability in these countries. From a comparative strategic management perspective, mitigation measures such as marine parks that have been put in place, still suffer from inconsistently specific data bases and implementation inadequacies.
