ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book proposes to take another step in the process begun by an international community of scholars engaged in formulating discourses on the making of a discipline. It examines the formulation and reformulation of discourses and their placement in an appropriate theoretical framework. The book focuses on three parts, each of which focuses on a keyword: politics, feminine/masculine, identities. The epistemological revolution provoked by the advance of critical theory has had a decisive impact on dance research. The research presented in the bookseems to be moving toward the idea that every methodology is one of many possible choices if it is considered the result of a dynamic and reciprocal relationship between the subject and the field of research.
