ABSTRACT
The New Kingdom (1550–1070 bc) in ancient Egypt was a time of expansion and social change. Its sphere of influence extended beyond earlier limits and its rulers formed new political alliances with old neighbors. Egypt played a major role in the ancient Near East's evolution from an international system to an 'international society in the making' (Ragionieri 2000:42–6).
