ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the extent to which regional culture informs the organizational culture of incumbent firms in specific regions and vice versa. Regional culture allows the building up of trust, which is regarded as a facilitating factor or even as a precondition for effective knowledge exchange, cooperation and collective learning. Company's culture or a regional culture can be characterized by tensions and conflict as well as by shared values and symbols. Multiple identities based on different cultures are characteristic of nearly all regions, and all those identities refer to a specific geographical space. It is highly rational to use crisis periods for human resource recruitment and to convince employees of the advantages and of good company culture. Celtic culture prioritizes the creation and use of music as an accompaniment to its principal art of poetry. Regional culture now supplies the "cognitive-cultural" narrative that was remarkably only relatively lightly touched by the corporate cultures of preceding eras.
