ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on research that provides current insights into learning outcomes arising from the use of learning platforms by pupils, students and teachers in schools. Learning platforms are clearly used by schools for a range of purposes, some of them concerned with management of educational practices, and others concerned more with direct learning interactions. R. Andrews and C. Haythornthwaite discuss moving from 'e-plus learning' to 'e-learning' and describe how this is a co-evolutionary process where the way that both teachers and learners communicate and interact with and through technology develops the meaning of 'e-learning' as technology becomes more integrated or embedded. The chapter considers the relationship between perceptions of the value and uses of a course management system and the information literacy levels of users of 211 undergraduate students aged 19 to 24 years studying physical education in a university context.
