ABSTRACT

This article will suggest an assessment framework, currently being implemented at Emory University Libraries, for evaluation of Web-scale search and retrieval tools. This framework seeks to prioritize limited library resources with the distinct goals of improving end-user satisfaction and streamlining core services for Web-based research. Critical components of this framework are Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and standardized feedback gathering solutions. The authors hope to provide peers with a set of customer-centered metrics as well as an agile and actionable user testing methodology for decision-making in the deployment of discovery tools.
