ABSTRACT

[Byron] Don Juan, XV–XVI (1824); Literary Chronicle, April 3, 1824, pp. 215–217. “Monsieur Tonson” was the title character in a popular play (1821) by John Taylor (1757–1832), a newspaper publisher and miscellaneous writer. Though the reviewer doubts that Byron read and corrected proofs of his publications while he was in Italy, Byron actually did so.
