ABSTRACT

Byron, Hours of Idleness; (1807); Gentleman’s Magazine, LXXVII (Supplement, 1807), 1217-1219; LXXVIII (March 1808), 231-233. The second (more critical) notice given Byron’s first volume has the tone of “Sylvanus Urban” himself, whereas the notice in the Supplement was probably done by a subordinate whose task was to include noteworthy specimens from the year just concluded.
