ABSTRACT

Byron, Werner (1823), and Lord John Russell, Don Carlos, 4th edition (1822); Eclectic Review, 2nd Series, XIX (Feb. 1823), 136–155. This review shows the middle-class morality of the Eclectic being brought to bear on Byron, the Regency rake exiled and passé, by contrasting him with Russell, Moore’s friend (and later editor) and a stalwart of the younger Whig liberals.
