Byron, Hours of Idleness (1807); review by Henry Brougham, Edinburgh Review, XI (Jan. 1808), 285–289. Brougham, as appears clearly here, had a greater gift for ridicule than Jeffrey, but in this case he chose the wrong subject and provoked Byron to write English Bards and Scotch Reviewers.
