Wordsworth, Memorials of a Tour (1822); Literary Museum, May 18, 1822, pp. 52–53. The sympathetic reviewer reverses the values of the bee and the spider from Swift’s Battle of the Books to praise Wordsworth’s spinning of poetic values out of himself. Yet he shows enough good judgment not to rate Memorials of a Tour as one of Wordsworth’s major achievements.
