ABSTRACT
While Theodoret shows little sympathy for Greek thought, and has little reputation as a philosopher, this chapter aims to show that he achieves some originality not only in the division and arrangement of his polemic against the Greek schools but in his meditations on providence, a topic which also acquires an unusual salience in his annotations to the Book of Genesis.
