ABSTRACT
The five papers of this session show some indication of the breadth and ambiguity of the topic area. Eastman and Dudnik are both concerned with assessment and reporting of the state of the art. Yessios offers a conceptual extension to the art. Hobson and Kohn, and also Frederking and Penz, illustrate the application of known techniques to a design problem. The examples chosen as illustrations similarly cover a broad spectrum.
